Queso Diego November Meeting Announcement

Our last formal Queso Diego meeting of 2018 will take place on Tuesday, November 20th 6:30 PM at AleSmith Brewing Company.

The Presentation for this month will be Smoked Cheeses by Chris Banker.

As always, the meeting will start at 6:30 PM with one of our amazing potluck events filled with cheese and cheesy things.
At 7:00 PM we will start the formal meeting.

Remember, the weather is cooling down and the brewery can be chilly so bring a wrap.
Also, bring a chair for maximum comfort.

Queso Diego November Meeting Announcement

The activities at our next meeting on November 21 st will be another double feature extravaganza:

First, The presentation “Alpine Cheeses” by our own award-winning Marci Richards. It will be an informative exposé into the sharp and aromatic goodness that originated in the Alps of Switzerland, France and Italy. Yummm. And we’ll have samples to enjoy!

BTW: This month’s participatory cheese is aptly described as “Holiday Cheese”. Let your imagination run wild and put together your impression of flavors that represent the Holiday Season. We’ll all look forward to sampling prior to the meeting, between 6:30 and the 7:00 start of the meeting.

Second, it’s time for our annual elections of Officers. This year voting is available online for all members in good standing (paid their dues and didn’t serve cheese whiz all year). Look for a separate voting form.

Queso Diego November Meeting Announcement

The November meeting of Queso Diego will feature a presentation by Queso Diego President, Alyssa Humbert, on Italian Cheese, based on her recent trip to Italy. She will talk about Italian cheeses, including the cheeses she found in Italy, and share samples of Italian cheeses. This is our final regular meeting of the year, as December is our special holiday party, which we will discuss at the meeting. Attendees are welcome to bring cheeses and snacks to share, and Italian cheeses and foods are especially encouraged.

Sacré Bleu! The November Queso Diego meeting will focus on blue cheeses, presented by Lee Movic. Bonus XP if you bring a homemade blue cheese to share!

This meeting will be held at 6:30pm on Tuesday November 17th at City Farmers Nursery.

Nate’s Garden Grill is located on the grounds of City Farmers Nursery, so consider stopping by to grab a beer before or after the meeting. They have a great menu of fresh, local food and an extensive draft beer list.

Happy November Cheesers!

We have some exciting news for our November general meeting! This month we’ll feature 1st Place San Diego County Fair Cheese making Competition Winner, Peter Zien. Peter Zien is the owner of Medal-Winning SD Brewery AleSmith, and is moving towards running a local creamery aptly named CheeseSmith. His topic, “Beer-Washed Cheese and Belgian Ales”

Comes learn about beer washed cheeses. Peter will be bringing some very special beer-washed Cheeses and pairing them with Belgian Ales. He has mail-ordered some unique cheeses from Rodenbach, Chimay, and a German Creamery. Also, a new washed-rind cheese from Minnesota that is coated 3x with Surly Furious. He’ll be pairing these with some AleSmith and other Belgian-style brewery offerings.

Queso Diego November Meeting Announcement

The November meeting of Queso Diego will finish our 2013 Cheeses of the World program with Italian Cheeses.  Brian Trout, our future Vice-President, has been preparing an excellent presentation on Italian cheeses that will include cheese samples and pairings, along with lots of information and recipes.  This is our final regular meeting of the year, as December is our special holiday party, which we will discuss at the meeting.  Attendees are welcome to bring cheeses, drinks, and snacks to share, and Italian cheeses and foods are especially encouraged.
