Queso Diego August Meeting Announcement

We are excited that Moroccan chef and cookbook author, Kitty Morse, will be joining us for the August Meeting of Queso Diego at 6:30PM on August 15th in the Barrel Room at AleSmith Brewing Co. Kitty is a wonderful storyteller and the author of many cookbooks including “Mint Tea and Minarets”, a fascinating cookbook that combines autobiographical accounts of her upbringing in Morroco and traditional recipes from her childhood. She will discuss that book as well as her newest cookbook, “Bitter Sweet”, based upon the diary of her great grandfather recounting the impact of WWII in Alsace, France, and her great grandmother’s cookbook with Alsatian recipes from that era. She will also have both books available for sale and signing.

Members of the club will be cooking dishes from those cookbooks to accompany Kitty’s presentation and making cheese from those regions. If you would like to bring French or Moroccan food or cheese for the potluck, that would enrich the experience.

The potluck begins at 6:30 and meeting at 7:00. Please bring a dish to share. Homemade cheese and homemade brews are encouraged.

The Cross-Club picnic has been scheduled for August 19th. Details to be emailed.

Once again, It’s still early but board elections are in November, so if anyone is interested in serving on the board let us know and feel free to join the next board meeting on September 12th.

Queso Diego June Meeting Announcement

Our monthly Queso Diego meeting will be next Tuesday, 6/21 at AleSmith, 6:30 pm. Our feature this month is Raclette cheese thanks to a generous donation from one of the vendors at the Liquid City event. The club will be serving Raclette cheese with the usual accompaniments (bread, potatoes, gherkin pickles, etc.). Instead of the usual potluck, we recommend bringing salads or something else that would go well with cheese.

Don’t forget to bring a chair and hope to see you all next Tuesday.

Queso Diego May Virtual Meeting Announcement

We miss being together to enjoy cheese, as it is a communal food. So let’s meet and share what we’ve been doing with cheese. This will be a casual but interactive meeting so bring one or more of the following to enjoy while we show, share (visually), and discuss:

A dish made with cheese (e.g., quiche, casserole, dessert)
Cheese pairing (e.g., cheese & beverage; cheese & song; cheese & meat; cheese and outfit….you pick the pair)
Cheese board – make one and show it, you’ll make us all jealous

You’re free to tell us as much or as little about what you bring.

Queso Diego June Meeting Announcement

Join us for the sweet side of delicious cheese! The June meeting of Queso Diego will feature desserts made with various cheeses. We encourage all members to get creative and bring a variety of after dinner winners for some soul-satisfying yum!

Attendees are encouraged to make unique and creative cheese-based dessert creations to share. If possible, try to have them pre-portioned or pre-cut to facilitate sharing. Also consider bringing beverages to go with the desserts we will be sampling. The meeting will be held at 6:30pm on Tues, June 17th at City Farmers Nursery (http://www.cityfarmersnursery.com).

Nate’s Garden Grill on the grounds of City Farmers Nursery is now open, so consider stopping by to grab a beer before or after the meeting. They have a great menu of fresh, local food and an extensive draft beer list. As a reminder, please park in the overflow parking or on the street to allow room for Nate’s customer parking.
