Greetings Queso Diego,
As usual we’ll start off at 6:30 with our potluck munchies.
The general meeting will start at 7:00 and we’ll get together and share ideas for centerpieces, displays and presentations made primarily from cheese. You’re encouraged to be creative and make a display using any cheese as well as charcuterie and accompaniments.
We’d love to have you share your ideas for the holidays.
We also have our annual elections this month. The board will present a slate of officers for discussion and approval. We look forward to having everyone join us.
Remember to bring a chair and a coat. It’s getting a little cooler.
Regarding the noise:
I’m sure everyone is aware that the back room can be a bit noisy. They have so much beer to can that they’ve been running 24/7. Peter is aware of the noise.
They are in the process of getting a faster canning line that will be installed a little further away. This should hopefully be done within the next couple of months.
Thanks for putting up with this but it will get better.
November Queso Diego Meeting – Tuesday, November 17th (6:30pm social, 7pm meeting)
What do Cheese and Turkey have in Common???………… answer: Thanksgiving
Join us Tuesday to find out:
The role cheese has played in Thanksgiving
The lore of Cheesy Thanksgiving tales
Wacky cheese facts around Thanksgiving
What came first the Turkey or the Cheese?……and more.
What better way to learn about cheese and turkey than with Trivia (with cheesy prizes, too 😉). Perhaps you’ll get some different ideas for your Thanksgiving 2020 or at least have some fun trivia to share during your Thanksgiving meal.
Zoom link will be sent out on the members email list. Contact us if you want to attend as a guest.
We will be having our September Queso Diego Meeting on Tuesday, September 18th.
As always, it will be held at:
AleSmith Brewing Company
9990 Alesmith Court
San Diego, CA 92126.
Please RSVP via the following link:
This month’s featured presentation will be Fall and Holiday Cheeses moderated by Marci Richards and Olaf Walter. Club members will have an opportunity to present their favorite Fall and Holiday Cheeses Recipes and to share their creations if they wish.
The meeting starts at 6:30 PM with sharing of cheese (homemade or otherwise) and cheese-friendly foods, homemade alcoholic beverages, and any other food or non-alcoholic beverage you would like to share. AleSmith beer is available for purchase (no other commercial alcoholic beverages can be served at the brewery). Please refrain from sharing or partaking of food before 6:30 PM.
At 7:00 PM we start the formal meeting with a summary of past and upcoming club events and meeting plans and we always provide a chance to talk about your homemade cheeses and to discuss cheesemaking and answer cheese-related questions.
Please remember to bring a chair and wear something warm as we meet in the brewery, which can be chilly if the weather is cold.
If you haven’t paid your 2018 dues, please be prepared to pay $20 for individuals or $30 for a family to our new Membership Officer, Olaf Walter.
Please RSVP and Enjoy the meeting.
In lieu of a regular December meeting, we will be having the 3rd annual Queso Diego Holiday Party. This is a special event that is open only to paid members and their guests. The party will be held on our regular meeting date, Tuesday, 12/17, and will begin at 6:00pm. It will be held at Chuck and Joanne West’s home in the Tierrasanta area of San Diego. Address and directions will be provided to those who RSVP as we get closer to the party.
The party is potluck, so please bring food and/or drinks to share, in addition to cheeses. Please ensure that anything you bring is service-ready and does not need to be cooked on-site. Dress is festive casual. For those who keg their homebrew, we have the ability to put kegs on tap for the party.
Note: This special holiday party is only open to paid members of Queso Diego. Members may bring a significant other or guest. If you are not currently a paid member and wish to attend, you may join for the remainder of the year through June by contacting our treasurer – firstname.lastname@example.org
RSVPs are required, so please RSVP using this form:
This is always a fun event that you don’t want to miss.
There will be no regular December meeting, as it will be replaced by the Queso Diego holiday party. Our next general meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan 15th.
