The meeting is “Cheese Bingo”

It’s exciting just to be a member of Queso Diego, but “Cheese Bingo” What!!!! Yes a cheese bingo game with tons of fun and prizes. This bingo game will combine knowledge about cheese making with our favorite activity, EATING CHEESE! There will be prizes for the winners, but that will not be the only way to win.

Please be sure to bring a cell phone, tablet or laptop. The game will be played on your device. AleSmith has Wi-Fi for devices without cellular service. We will be playing in groups of 3-4 people. Only one device is required for each group but everyone who wants to will be able to play their own bingo card. Every card will be unique.

It will be our usual potluck so bring something to share.

The meeting topic is “Liquid City Cheese Follow Up”

As some of you may know the Liquid City event was a couple of weekends ago. Many Queso Diego members volunteered and helped out with the event. When many of the cheese vendors travel home they prefer not to take all of the cheese back with them. Our club benefitted from the excess baggage and was given a good amount of the cheese.

We will be talking about the different cheese we inherited and sampling them all, so bring your cheese appetite. We will also be raffling off some this cheese, so be sure to come for some fun.

We will be having our normal potluck, so bring something to share.

Queso Diego April Meeting Announcement – Grilled Cheese!

The meeting is “Grilled Cheese Making Extravaganza”

This is our annual Grilled Cheese making and sharing party. An event not to be missed. Create your best grilled cheese sandwich or whatever side you would like to share with the club.

It is best to bring your food prepared to be cooked. Members in the past have brought camp stoves, chafing dishes and other non electric apparatus to warm your food, if you don’t have anything, I am sure there will be people to share theirs. Small folding tables work well for this so if you have one, it would be beneficial to bring it.

Finally, Members, if you need anything from the Library of Cheesemaking, please request prior to any upcoming meeting for delivery at the meeting. Be sure to check the list of offerings and send an email to QD-Library-Request@googlegroups.com.

Queso Diego January Meeting Announcement

Happy New Year and welcome to another fun cheese filled year. Our scheduled meeting was a guest presentation by author and Moroccan chef, Kitty Morse. Unfortunately, she will not be available due to unexpected circumstances. We will reschedule her presentation as circumstances allow.

Pairing Cheese and Beverages: Complementarity and Contrast

Taking inspiration from our upcoming Anniversary Party, our January Queso Diego Meeting will explore the guidelines for cheese pairings and provide an opportunity for each of you to participate in developing some pairings of your own. Cheese and beverages for your pairing experiences will be provided. Prepare your palate for a fun experience.

In the meantime, watch your email for the announcement of our annual Anniversary Party on February 21st. Be sure to purchase your tickets early to ensure your place at the table, as tickets will be limited. The price is $20 for members and $30 for guests.

We also wanted to remind everyone that it’s time to renew annual dues. It is $20 for a personal membership and $30 for household. Feel free to bring cash or a check to the meeting or you can pay online at payments@quesodiego.org.

Queso Diego Holiday Party 2022

The annual Queso Diego Holiday Party will be held on Tues, December 13th for paid (2022 or 2023) members and their guests. This gathering is in lieu of a normal meeting in December. If you are a paid member and didn’t receive the party information and RSVP form via the club email list, or if you’d like to join prior to the party and attend, please contact our membership chair or the officers.

Queso Diego November Meeting Announcement

Our November meeting will be next Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., at AleSmith. Please bring something to share for the potluck, and don’t forget to bring a chair.

Our meeting topic will be:

How Microbes Influence the Flavor and Texture of Cheese: Choosing cultures for cheesemaking
by Curt Wittenberg (your Sister Noella)

This month’s presentation will review the many influences of bacteria and molds on the properties of cheese. In that context, Curt will review some of the many types microbes available to our members from the Library of Cheesemaking and what to expect when using them. Cheese samples will be shared during the presentation to illustrate some of the differences that can be expected in your cheesemaking.

We will also hold our board election at the meeting. We are still looking for nominees for Event Coordinator so let us know if you are interested. Lynda Juniper will be available to collect 2023 dues ($20 individual, $30 family).

Also as a reminder the holiday party will be on Tuesday, December 13. More information and directions to follow.
