Queso Diego June Meeting Announcement

For the June meeting of Queso Diego, we will be learning about cheese forms and presses from Larry Stein.
We are now allowed to share homemade alcoholic beverages (homebrew beer, wine, cider, mead) at our meetings at AleSmith. We are still not permitted to bring outside commercial alcohol. Please bring your own tasting glass.

Queso Diego June Meeting Announcement

The June Queso Diego meeting will focus on Cheesecakes – both sweet and savory. Cheesecakes can take many forms – as appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We will discuss and share all types of cheesecakes. We encourage attendees to think outside the box and bring a unique cheesecake to share. Alternatively, you may bring accompaniments and non-alcoholic beverages to share as part of the gathering.

Queso Diego June Meeting Announcement

For June, Queso Diego’s own, Jeffree Itrich will be presenting “Queso de la Aldea.” Short translation: Village Cheese, which is the quintessential essence of Spanish cheese.

There will be plenty of delicious samples and education of all things Spanish Cheese.

Sharing is Caring. — As always, bringing delicious beverages is always promotedd. You might even try to focus on Spain with regional cheeses, dishes, and beverages?

It is also recommended to bring your tasting glasses to cut down on those pesky plastic cups (and help eliminate waste).

Queso Diego June Meeting Announcement

Join us for the sweet side of delicious cheese! The June meeting of Queso Diego will feature desserts made with various cheeses. We encourage all members to get creative and bring a variety of after dinner winners for some soul-satisfying yum!

Attendees are encouraged to make unique and creative cheese-based dessert creations to share. If possible, try to have them pre-portioned or pre-cut to facilitate sharing. Also consider bringing beverages to go with the desserts we will be sampling. Nate’s Garden Grill on the grounds of City Farmers Nursery is now open, so consider stopping by to grab a beer before or after the meeting. They have a great menu of fresh, local food and an extensive draft beer list. As a reminder, please park in the overflow parking or on the street to allow room for Nate’s customer parking. Queso Diego June Meeting Announcement

The June meeting of Queso Diego will focus on cheesemaking gadgets. Horace Bixby will be leading the discussion and showing off some gadgets he uses. We encourage any members who have cool gadgets for cheesemaking to show them off and talk about them. In addition, we will be doing an introduction to fondue in preparation for July’s meeting. We will discuss fondue basics and ideas for supplies to bring for the July meeting.

No June Meeting

Just a quick reminder that there is no regular Queso Diego meeting this month. Due to the proximity of the meeting date to the SD Fair cheesemaking awards and National Homebrewers Conference, we decided that it didn’t make sense to try to hold a meeting this month.

We will resume regular meetings on the third Tuesday of the month with our July meeting on 7/17.
