It’s September, and we’re getting ready for fall. Chris Banker will warm us up to smokey cheeses! He’ll share how they’re made, tips for smoking your own at home, and the unique characteristics that different woods and aging times can create. To top it off, we’ll enjoy a delicious sampling of Chris’s own home-smoked creations, comparing a variety of cheeses, woods, and maturities.

Remember: Bring a dish to share and folding chair!

Bring a Friend: Guests are invited to attend one meeting for free! So bring a friend and spread the cheese love!

Guests are invited to join for $20 per year for individuals or $30 per household!

We have a cheesy sweet surprise for next week’s meeting. “Dessert Cheese” anyone? Yes that’s right, Ed will be presenting this delicious topic along with 6 of our members who are preparing special dessert cheese recipes for all to share. You won’t want to miss this one.

We will enjoy our potluck and socializing prior to the meeting. Since we are serving desserts as a topic, consider bringing a non-dessert dish for the potluck.

Members are encouraged to bring homemade brews and cheese. If you do bring something for the club to enjoy, please provide everyone with a short description about it prior to the commencement of the potluck.

Once again, board elections are in November, so if anyone is interested in serving on the board let us know. The club has specific needs for Treasurer and Education.

Our feature presentation for the September meeting will be Cheeses of Mexico presented by Larry Stein

Please remember to bring a chair and something to share at the potluck. Hot or cold foods, cheese, non-alcoholic or homemade alcoholic beverages are all welcome. Please bring your food ready to serve with serving utensils if they are needed. Of course, many excellent beers are available at the AleSmith bar.

This Tuesday we’ll meet at AleSmith in Barrel Room where we normally meet. Social time starts at 6:30 and the meeting will start at 7:00.

Please bring a chair. You may also consider bringing something for the pre-meeting potluck. You can bring homemade beer/cider/mead/wine but no commercial alcohol.

This month, Larry Stein will be doing a presentation “Cheese Classification, How to Taste Cheese”.
We’ll explore the lexicon surrounding cheese descriptors and try several samples.

We have a very interesting and unique meeting this month, as well as the unique opportunity to get background/development information from the founder Glen Feder, Fromaggio, creator of the World’s First SMART Home Cheesemaker.

Think breadmaking machine………………seems to be a similar concept to “make almost any type of soft or hard cheese (or yogurt, and even tofu!)” (Fromaggio, 2020).

A little about the creator…………”After living in Paris for 15 years, Glen returned to the U.S. and was surprised to find people were still eating the same, tasteless, artificial, grocery store cheese. So he gathered a team of innovators and foodies — from the director of partnerships at YouTube to the head cheesemaker at a dairy farm. After a very successful Kickstarter campaign, we have now lined up the best manufacturers, suppliers and engineers we could find. Together, we are on a mission to bring affordable, artisanal quality cheese to kitchen countertops worldwide.”

The meeting will start at 7pm with the presenter, as he is on east coast time. Our club business and discussion will commence after the presentation. Zoom info was sent out to members via the club email list.

We will be having our September Queso Diego Meeting on Tuesday, September 18th.

This month’s featured presentation will be Fall and Holiday Cheeses moderated by Marci Richards and Olaf Walter. Club members will have an opportunity to present their favorite Fall and Holiday Cheeses Recipes and to share their creations if they wish.

The meeting starts at 6:30 PM with sharing of cheese (homemade or otherwise) and cheese-friendly foods, homemade alcoholic beverages, and any other food or non-alcoholic beverage you would like to share. AleSmith beer is available for purchase (no other commercial alcoholic beverages can be served at the brewery). Please refrain from sharing or partaking of food before 6:30 PM.

At 7:00 PM we start the formal meeting with a summary of past and upcoming club events and meeting plans and we always provide a chance to talk about your homemade cheeses and to discuss cheesemaking and answer cheese-related questions.

Please remember to bring a chair and wear something warm as we meet in the brewery, which can be chilly if the weather is cold.

If you haven’t paid your 2018 dues, please be prepared to pay $20 for individuals or $30 for a family to our new Membership Officer, Olaf Walter.
